John Whittaker

Originally from England, J.C. Whittaker moved to California in 1987. In Cambria, he has pursued his interests in light, color, reality and illusion and, in doing so, has created images that are both arresting and deeply thought provoking.

He approaches these themes through a linked series of canvases. Each painting explores another facet through visually dense imagery. Whittaker is an eclectic artist and through his complete mastery of paint, he is able to employ a variety of styles. Having worked as a painter for over 30 years, Whittaker has established a formidable reputation on both sides of the Atlantic. He has exhibited widely and his art works have been shown in Realities Nouvelles in Paris, France; in Germany, Austria and Britain. In 1986 he was awarded the prestigious Europe Prize for Painting. In the USA, his painting have been placed in collections in London, New York, San Francisco, Los Angeles and Hong Kong.
